Went to the Star Wars movie

I saw it yesterday, and I recommend it. The special effects are excellent and the emotional situation is intense enough that it's frequently involving in spite of the movie's many weak points.

When I think of the weak points, I'm amazed that it's any good at all. Aside from the tone-deaf names (General Grievous? Dooku? Darth Sidious?), bad to mediocre acting, and flat dialogue, there isn't much wrong with it. (Except that I might have forgotten something, in which case I hope that my loyal commenters will remind me of it.) Nonetheless, I don't regret seeing it, and I might see it again.

Spoilers and nit-picks )

Email problems

Uslec (the current owner of netaxs) is still having problems with email--instead of being forwarded to my account at panix, mail to my netaxs account is only readable with mutt (I prefer pine) and some of it may be disappearing. I'll let everyone know when things are serene again at uslec, but meanwhile, you can email me at nancyL *at* panix *period* com.

I hate the idea of changing my basic email address. I've been publicizing the netaxs address for a very long time, but the current situation is making me twitch. What do you folks think of having gmail as one's primary address?

Fin3 2ning $um l33t

L33t stages of grieving.
Stage 1: OMG
Stage 2: WTF
Stage 3: :(
Stage 4: kthxbye

Link originally at [livejournal.com profile] dhole, but I got it from [livejournal.com profile] womzilla.

So I googled kthxby, and found it means "ok, thanks, goodbye".

Then I thought that it might work on a button, but "stages of grieving" looked a little too normal. I don't know much about l33t, so I googled again, and found:

The bbc

and

wikipedia, both of whom had dignified, informative articles.

Is "Stajez of gr33ving" overdoing it? I gather that "f" for "of" is too aolish, and "ph"
for "f" for "of" is probably contrary to the spirit of l33t.

I can see the temptation to get l33tR & l33tR unt|_ 1 is 1ll3jiBle. I bet this is one of the very few uses of 1 as a l33t pronoun.

I wanted to use angle brackets, but lj insisted on trying to interpret them as html. I don't think the ['s look too bad. In any case, buttons are subject only to less-destructive parsing by humans, so please let me know if angle brackets would be better.

Again, any advice on l33t is welcome, and so are opinions about whether the slogans are funny.
