If you can stand one more post about Palin

If they won't let her talk to the press, what are they afraid she might say? It can't be stuff like not knowing the history of the pledge of allegiance or what she said in her speech. Those are things that piss off a lot of the people I know, but the first isn't important in terms of getting elected and the second is what they wanted her for. So whatever they're worried about has to be something else.

It does look as though she isn't going to be the VP candidate. So, was choosing her a clever plan or an impulsive mistake?

I've heard that McCain really wanted Lieberman. Does this mean McCain gets what his first choice?

What makes you think she won't be the VP candidate? I haven't seen that....

I'm assuming that if they are insulating her from the press, they don't trust her. I could be wrong. We'll find out.

I think it's more likely that they didn't know how much trouble she'd be. If McCain chooses someone else he'll look like an indecisive idiot, and that would utterly destroy his already somewhat unlikely chances of winning.

Doubt it. (Unfortunately.) They just announced that ABC has snagged the first interview with Palin - with no preconditions.

I had also heard about the preference for Lieberman, however, I haven't seen anything that indicates she might be dropped. Any sources you might point me at?

i would hope, by all that is , and isnt, holy that they would drop her...

She fires up the Republican and Democratic base. Therefore the smart strategy for her handlers is to give her as much time as possible in front of friendly Republican audiences but give her as little exposure as possible to Democrats.

There is no way in hell that they're going to dump her from the ticket. I think she's being groomed for a Presidential run (as either Obama's or McCain's successor).

Trust me on this - Palin isn't being dropped. She's far too valuable in terms of giving the party's base the red-meat excitement they need to get them turning out for McCain, but they also know she's a far-right kook sandwich who's liable to embarrass them into losing if they let her anywhere near a non-GOP-controlled or -friendly microphone or camera between now and 4 November.

She's serving her purpose just fine without actually having to appear before anyone outside of a Republican rally or a Rush Limbaugh/Fox News broadcast until then.
