I voted

Good weather, around the corner. I showed up at 6:30-- it opened at 7:00, and I assumed it was better to wait for half an hour now than two hours later. I was first in line. There were about 20 people in line when I left.

As usual, there were electronic machines with no paper trail.

I like technology for the convenience it provides but when it removes solid, tangible evidence of results of who will be at the helm of such a large and imposing country with so many influences, i just go cold with dread and think of how it went the last two times.

I don't even live in your country and it makes me shudder. again.

I strongly believe that a paper trail is necessary. I was oddly happy that, due to the expected high turnout, they had Scantron forms to supplement the usual touchscreen machines -- I filled out a Scantron form and fed it into the scanner.

I just got back from voting. No lines at all (first time I've seen that); I guess having 40% of registered voters vote early makes a difference. No paper trail either.
