Rick Perry (Republican hopeful) and pals

I have to admit, I haven't been keeping track of which low-quality Republican was which. Video makes it all easier to remember. And not that this is news, but what's in that video suggests that the Religious Right hasn't just sold their souls to the devil, they accidentally threw in their minds as part of the bargain.

However, the Freemasons may actually have had something to do with the Statue of Liberty for all I know-- the western mainstream in recent centuries hasn't been all that good at public iconography.

Sidetrack: I remember hearing somewhat about France planning to give Japan a monument (media-themed?) in the 80s or thereabouts. Did anything come of it?

Link thanks to dark-christian, a livejournal community which tracks Dominionism.

You know, even without knowing that some of the religious leaders he invited were nutjobs, I was aleady upset that a state governor was using his position to promote religion. And not only religion! Religion as a solution to political problems! Because what else could the governor of the country's largest state do, except pray? Beyond assuming that everyone is religious, and that every religious person is Christian, this is a bit like throwing his hands up and saying he can't do anything at all in political office.

Could you re-link the video? The one I'm seeing is all about the debt ceiling.

Not that you need to tell me what a vile person Perry is; I've lived in Texas the whole time he's been governor. In fact, the best result I can think of is for him to resign to run for president then get trounced by Obama, since there doesn't seem to be any other way to get him out of office.

Thanks for letting me know, but the video works for me. Just to be on the safe side, here's the link.

Except you know he won't resign, just as Bush didn't resign until after his victory was in the bag.

Rick Perry views himself as El Jefe Para Vida; he'll never give up power except to get MORE power.

IIRC, this is also a guy that was openly calling for secession after Obama was elected, and he's been packing the state board of education with creationist nutjobs. Or trying to at least, apparently the sane people on the board grew some spines recently, and managed to eke out a majority vote on science standards.
