The Imagined Village plays "Cold Haily Windy Night"-- amazingly intense.
The last link here is a workshop about the history and ideas behind The Imagined Village, including the idea that types of music are perceived rather than defined, bringing English folk music in to world music, that tyrannies go after the music first (possibly an exaggeration, but I bet it's an interesting thread to pull out of history), the twisty paths of bringing folk music back to the a general public which has forgotten it, reclaiming the British flag from the neo-Nazis, and the destructive effects in Britain of requiring licensing of all music performances associated with pubs. (I don't know what the current status of that last is.)
Song heard on The Thistle and Shamrock.
