A zombie story I actually liked
Dec. 8th, 2010 05:43 am by Dan Curtis Johnson. It's a zombie story with neat handling of decentralization and satisfying speculation about why there are different sorts of zombies, and no reveling in revulsion. [1] And it's got what it means to be an EMT when the dead turn into zombies.
It reminded me a little of Basement Nukes (1979, 1984), which argued that the nuclear threat would become so severe that people would no longer live in cities. The only other speculation I can think of about extreme decentralization was Kuttner's Mutant.
[1] China Mieville can get away with that for me, but I haven't seen anyone else manage it.
