[livejournal.com profile] jonsinger very kindly sent me

I'M IN UR PLEROMA, IMMANENTIZING UR ESKATON

While the sentiment is excellent, I believe the spelling can be improved:

I IS N YR PLEROMA, IMMANETIZING YR ESKATON

The goals are for it to be clear, funny, and in impeccable lolcatese.

He also sent me

Bad lever, no fulcrum!

Having just read through all the cat macros here:
http://icanhascheezburger.com/tag/lolcat/

I have to go with Jon's spelling. "I'M" or "IM" is much more common than "I IS." And "UR" beats out "YR," too.

Also, note that your version left out an "N" in "IMMANENTIZING."

Of course, it ought to be in all caps Arial, with a black border around the type. :-)

AFAICT, it runs like this -

I IS (something nounish).

I IS DUNECAT. I CONTROLS THE SPICE. I CONTROLS THE UNIVERSE.

I HAS (opt - A) (something nounish)

I HAS A SHUVEL.

I R (something verbish)

I R SHUVELIN.

IM IN (place), (doin stuff)

IM IN UR BASE, KILLIN UR DOODZ

IM IN UR COMPUTER, STEALIN UR MEGAHURTZ.

and their negatives, with NO, or NOT

I NOT DUNECAT. I IS SAD.

Why would a lolcat be able to spell "IMMANENTIZING"? It's tragic that there's no way to mess with PLEROMA.

Thanks. I'm not a native speaker.

Sorry, but I'd have to go with the original form. The "IM IN UR ___, ___ING UR ___" construction is one of the earliest examples (http://ic3.deviantart.com/fs9/i/2006/148/7/3/IM_IN_UR_FRIDGE_by_silver_sashi.jpg) of LOL-Kitteh known to lolcat scholars, and may even predate (http://shackfaq.portax.net/?qid=89) lolcat culture.

I'd have to agree. Heck, it may be the (or a) *source* of lolkitties/macros/whatever.

You're confusing the LOLcat dialect with the "In ur base" dialect. I don't know if that's a pidgin or a creole.

the original version was definately proper LOL-speak

Here's another, non-related quote that could make a fun button:

"Tonight, we dine in *HELL*. Tomorrow, I'm thinking Arby's."

:)

I think "Tonight we dine in HECK !" from the mock-trailer for the PG version of 300 might be worth buttoning.

Not that it's relevant, but while we were out driving around, I thought of:

KNOW SHOES
KNOW SERVICE

Forgot to mention --

[livejournal.com profile] lisajulie suggests that the "Bad lever" one should probably use a photo or map of the earth as its background. Kinda completes the picture.
