Ten Things Wrong with Medical Journals

The subject line isn't just wiseass--with a journal system which is that bad (not to mention other problems, how does it shake out that conventional medicine is at least moderately useful?

On the other hand, acupuncture is at least moderately useful too, and it has much less in the way of formal controls. Maybe it's a matter of people's natural tendency to get better and some degree of good sense from the practitioners.

Things that people do, medical treatments included, tend to be discontinued (eventually) if they do not work. Thus anything gets better with age. The scientific approach attempts to streamline this process via our very own version of intelligent design. Sometimes this works, sometimes it does not.
