Executives announce the future, managers make requests, workers make and fulfill promises. Obama talks like an executive, Edwards (this was written in January) talks like a manager, Clinton talks like a worker.

This is a new to me way of classifying things based on linguistics-- I've heard of declarative statements, but not as part of a system. It's amusing that Clinton is presented as having a subordinate style, considering the rightwing concern that she's too bossy.

If Clinton talks like a worker, it's in the sense of a rabble-rousing labor leader. The thought of her actually doing manual labor is hard to comprehend.

The article uses "worker" in a more general sense which includes technicians. I think the idea is that a worker is someone without subordinates. This means they offer to do things reliably.

She has always sounded to me like the alien leader from 'Mars Attacks"

Weirdly enough, I don't have a strong emotional reaction to hearing Hillary Clinton speak. I may be the only person in America who feels that way.
