What breaks my heart about sf conventions

Sometimes it hits me that such take rather a lot of freedom and prosperity, and it all seems very fragile.
This is *not* a swipe at the current administration. This reaction has happened to me now and then for decades.

rm, whose heart is broken at conventions by something quite different but just as personal.

The fragility and speed of life has harrowed me since I was eight years old, and in one of my frequent middle-of-night wakeful periods, realized that double digits were only two years away...and after that it was all downhill. Now, my idea of adulthood amended vastly from that constrained view of what was expected of women during the 1950s, but the merciless fleeting of time has never abated. So....my view of cons is, I embrace the moments of joy. Because time is going to flee anyway, so why not grab what fun we can?
