Black holes may have an upper limit

They only seem to get so big. The limit is guessed to be something practical rather intrinsic to physics.

Possibly not the best word, but is there a single word which conveys something like "radiation blows away everything that could feed it rather than something built into the physics of an isolated black hole"?
