Hermione Grainger and the Methods of Rationality

I've been enjoying Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality (Petunia marries a professor, so Harry is raised in a good home and is very familiar with science and science fiction), but I have some problems with the way Hermione is in the story. In order to see whether I'm an outlier on this, here's a poll:

I find his version of Hermione both more plausible and more faithful to Rowling's original than his version of Harry.

Well, the whole point of the fic was "what if you changed harry but left everything else the way it was" so I don't know that "more faithful than Harry" is either a faint or great praise.

That's very much *not* the point of the fic. (The author even wrote about that.) Quirrell, for example, is completely different from and not as a consequence of Harry changing.

I'd call her implausible and not a terribly good match to canon (too self-aware about some things, mostly) but reasonably consistent.

Also, you do not have an "I would like to complain about this poll" option.

Not that I'd call her *very* plausible, but she's more plausible than MoR!Harry.

Fwiw, I was so disgusted with the treatment of both MacGonagal and Hermione that I stopped reading.

Neither of them should be shown as such wimps to stand for AU-Harry's abuse.

At one point the author said in a meta-comment that he realized he was dropping anvils on other characters, but this was a first draft. I hope later drafts improve what could be a very good book!
