The beginning of a movement (less than three minutes) -- though I think that if you want something more stable that gets money and power, at some point you have to accumulate administratively competent followers. The details are left as an exercise for the reader.

From the other angle, if you are administratively competent, be very choosy about who you follow.

This is true, but if you can attract merely influential followers they can generally handle recruiting administrators.

I'm still thinking about the early development of Islam here. Maybe it's because I don't want to write the thing I have to write, but I have a burning desire this afternoon to start a screenplay for a life of Mohammed biopic, with all its attendant, crippling problems (like not showing Mohammed. Or Ali, or just possibly any of the Caliphs).
