Baboons kidnap (take? adopt?) feral puppies, and raise them to be guard dogs/family members.

Fascinating! (Although the part where the puppy was kidnapped wrung my heart, especially because the baboon went for extreme practicality rather than kindness in his choice of methods to keep the puppy from escaping while he got it from Point A to Point B. However, given that baboons have been known to eat meat, I should probably just be grateful that the puppy was destined to be a security system rather than dinner.)
