I recently ran across "deather"-- clearly a typo for death eater, but....

Clearly someone who believes an extremely unlikely accusation that a zombie died too recently to be qualified for high political office.

And I'm of an age which leads to thinking all too easily about political satire.

Perhaps not. It strikes me as the opposite of 'birther' -- someone who's allegedly upset about the 'death panels' that they fantasize constitute universal health care.

Alternately, it means someone who believes a particular poltician is actually a member of the undead, and thus not eligible to hold office.

With some politicians, such as (the now definitely late) Robert Byrd, that might even have been plausible.

My vote would have been Strom Thurmond, for a while it looked to me like he was headed for being a lich.

China Miéville's The Scar mentions High Cromlech, a nation ruled by the undead. The ruling class is liches, rather than zombies (who are used for menial labor), but still, an American-equivalent (New Cromlech?) could have rules limiting the chief executive office to natural-died citizens.

my understanding is, a deather is somebody who actually believes there were/are "death panels" in the healthcare act.

you know: like sarah palin.
