Scientists have washed the cells out of a rat heart, then reseeded the remaining connective tissue structure with heart cells from newborn rats. The resulting composite heart beats--only at 2% capacity, but that's still quite promising.

It's a long way from there to anything useful to humans, but this is a nice combination of Shiny! and Macabre!
