An original sin
Jul. 1st, 2004 05:18 pmI sell a button that says "I believe in original sin, and someday I hope to commit one". It's a light-hearted, cheerful thing, with the underlying notion that much of what's forbidden is actually fun.
Besides, it's *hard* to come up with a new way to break the rules.
However, I think the modern world has a sin which isn't mentioned in the Bible--forbidding other people's generosity.
In particular, Cuban-Americans are facing severe restrictions on how much they can give to their relatives in Cuba. This is a boring, miserable, cruel thing to do. Sanctions weren't invented by the current administration, but they're being made considerably worse.
If this is the result of trying to invent a new sin, just stay with the old ones.

I know where you've been
I know where--but I don't care
'cause there's no such thing as an original sin
