In a recent post, I described a fundraiser for cups, straws, and stirrers that change color if exposed to the three most common date rape drugs. My problem was that I wasn't sure the money made sense, so I asked about it at the site.
Here's the answer I received:
So, the 50K goal might make sense-- it's just for the prototype, not for going into production.
It sounds like a great product if it works out. I'd say that contributions are more like improving the odds of it happening rather than supporting a product that already exists.
Here's the answer I received:
"Hi Nancy!
Great questions. As noted in the written portion of our campaign and the video, the money will go towards perfecting the prototype, which will also include figuring out how to manufacture our products at a reasonable price. The legal aspects are not as costly as you might think (I'm an attorney by trade). If FDA approval is needed, which it is likely not, there are very simple streamline ways to obtain approval that are cost effective. I hope that answers your questions!"
