[livejournal.com profile] annafdd's list of things not to do in fiction reminds me of one of my peeves, cats that are just collections of humorously irritating or weird traits. Cats have personalities, and I can't think of any fiction from the human point of view that gets it right, though _Cats in Cyberspace_ by Beth Hilgartner and Diane Duane's cat wizard books are good from the cat point of view.

Any recommendations for human point of view fiction with cats?

I haven't read them, but yours is the second recommendation I've gotten. I'll look them up.

The cats in the "Cat Who" books aren't always realistic though. They do a lot of the typical cat things, but Koko (in particular) acts far too much like a human, communicating in cryptic ways with Qwill (his owner).

Of the books themselves, I liked the first dozen or so very much. After that, they started declining rapidly. I've wondered if Ms. Braun has hired a ghost writer.
