A sad story of being locked out of one's google account. Energetic networking got the account reactivated 42 days later.
The best protection is to be sure of your secondary email address--mine's probably ok, but any recommendations?
The other issue, of course, is that google needs better procedures for reactivating accounts--it can't be that rare for people to lose track of and then lose their secondary email address. IIRC, godaddy had better customer service when I needed to do some work on my url.
