I recently posted about a suddenly more cuddly cat and my curly hair as though there was some connection. It was quite an obscure connection-- Frieda, a minor Peanuts character. She had a "boneless cat" that Schulz never figured out how to draw or characterize, and her signature sentence was "I have naturally curly hair". Her wikipedia entry is longer and more complete than a lot of real world people who've done interesting things get.

I had flashed on that

I knew the hair comment was quoting Peanuts, but I thought it was said by Sally and I didn't remember any cats.

Oh, I had almost forgotten Frieda and her cat! Thanks for reminding me.

I recognized it. But then, in my youth I had a treasured copy of "Snoopy, Come Home", which, I think, contains the entirety of Frieda's fifteen minutes.

What was the cat's name? Faron?

Yes, but I wouldn't have known that if I hadn't read the wikipedia entry.

I totally got it - indeed, assumed all right-thinking, clean-living Americans would get it, and that I would look dorky by typing, "Ooh, Frieda." Like someone blurting out, "That's where the President lives!" when someone else mentions the White House. Your original post was written with perfect understatement and I retrospectively salute you for it.

:)

Not only did I get the joke, I immediately knew the name of the cat. Well-played.

I got your original reference, but I couldn't think of anything clever to say about it. :-)
