I wasn't on greatest journal and I'm not reading 20 pages of comments, but there are some brilliant macros in the comments. There are a page or three with nothing but FAIL macros, which gets a little dull (excuse me, I forgot when I was living--THEY FAIL!!!1!), but then we get back to a variety of moods.

Is insane journal getting to be the default diaspora for lj? I've been putting off looking for somewhere to get away from the scary Russians because it seemed like there were too many possibilities, but the postings on my friendslist have been looking a little sparse.

On NPR this morning, there was an interview with the author of The Geography of Bliss: One Grump's Search for the Happiest Places in the World, and it was mentioned that Russia and anyplace that has to do with Russia (not sure if the US counts) are inexplicably unhappy.

Link + clue about the cat macros thanks to [livejournal.com profile] liz_marcs.

Oh boy! Not on this name, but on another, I was writing on GJ, and then bagged it for IJ when GJ started getting flakey. I even got a permanent account (priced considerably less than the ones here).

What I have not done is gone through the effort of re-producing either my journal verbatim (no exporting/importing entries wholesale), nor succeeded in reproducing my friends-list here. So I come back a lot, to read, but I find the writing of my own little thing over on IJ just fine.

But I'll be checking for your name over there, now!

Crazy(and thanks for the tip about the macros - a very good way to just skim the massive number of repetitious comments)Soph

Thanks--moving to wherever is more of a round tuit than an urgent project, though.

I have no great need to move from LJ, and I'm sort of sad that others are going. I'm more the "wait and see" (but back up my journal regularly just in case) kind of gal. I'm fine where I am for now (and I have a permanent account, darn it!). My big hope is in Open ID, which in a perfect world will eventually mean I can read any journal from any site I like on one page, and comment without logging in to several different places.

One person on my friendslist moved over to InsaneJournal, so I also went there. My writing here is now duplicated on IJ. Also at http://dsgood.wordpress.com.

Are you doing that duplication manually, or do you have a client that makes it easier?

I created an account at IJ (thanks for the tip, [livejournal.com profile] nancylebov), but I'm not moving just yet. I'd like it if I could use it as a mirror, though, so that if I ever do move, I won't be starting completely from scratch.

I write my posts offline, then post one place at a time.

I recall clients which make it easier being discussed, but I didn't pay much attention.

By "macros" do you mean icons, or "pictures with text" in non-geekspeak, and specifically lolcats (I CAN HAZ EXPLAIN PLEEZ)? Because a macro does something. I see lots of lolcats but no macros, and I'm not going to look through 20 pages of posts (not counting the unexpanded threads).

If there are macros on there that I could use, say, to export and back up my journal here on LJ, I'd like to know about them.

Sorry--I meant macros in the sense of LOL[whatsit].

There are programs (possibly macros, but I suspect they're more complicated) for backing up journals, but I don't know them.
