A problem of scale

I wonder if the cloth was custom made for the dress.
I agree with the commenters that the marabou at the top (quite likely turkey feathers, or at least most marabou seems to be made of them) doesn't make a useful contribution. No trim at the top would probably be best, but I'm trying to figure out if there could be anything which would be both noticeable on that dress and attractive.
Mostly though, I think the feather are a bad choice because they imply an alternate world with itty bitty turkeys and monarch butterflies the size of condors.
