Help me name a cafe press shop
Feb. 9th, 2008 09:45 amThe new scanner works, and presumably the only thing preventing me from opening a cafepress shop is procrastination, and I'm working on that.
One point of procrastination is a name for the shop. While I believe in theory that business names don't matter much (and probably less so for cafepress--the shop names are in tiny fonts, and I assume most people don't find out about cafepress shops by their names)-- most major businesses have really boring names-- I'm still snagged by wanting a good name.
It won't be anything about nancybuttons. I'm expecting that many of my customers won't have heard of NancyButtons. I'll put a mention of nancybuttons (a link if possible) in a subtitle.
I'd like it to be something that relates to my choice of slogans (I like "At the Speed of Truth", but it doesn't seem to resonate with other people) or is funny in itself.
Otherwise, what slogans would you like to see on t-shirts?

Date: 2008-02-09 05:58 pm (UTC)I don't know if I'll be offering buttons at cafepress. I'm mostly interested in the range of products, the lack of capital required, and that they do most of the boring part of the work.

And a lot of your slogans are already floating around the net (in .sig files and such) already attributed to NancyButtons, so continuing to use that name means not having to assert that you're not ripping yourself off.

Date: 2008-02-09 06:53 pm (UTC)If she was *certain* she could sell 100 of a certain shirt (not 100 shirts, but of one design, it might be worth it to her to print them. My shirt printer wholesales them for $8. They sell for $20, but we have a brick and mortar store to pay for. After the basic cost of the shirt, and the ones that don't sell but we need to order a minimum, and the cost of the store, and people, etc., and Cafe Press, while not a hugely profitable endeavor, is a good place to start with a new product or one that you're unsure you can sell 100 of.
When I have a really good design lots of people would like, I sell it to the store. When I have one little design I like or that amuses me but will sell maybe 10 of them, I put 'em on Cafe Press.

Also, will these be calligraphy-style, or ordinary print/type?
