The Most Beautiful Movie Ever Made, or at least the most delightfully weird movie.... is available online.

This is the only feature-length movie written by Dr. Seuss, and that should be a good enough reason for you to see it.

[livejournal.com profile] sovay wrote a detailed review, which roughly does it justice. In addition to all its other virtues (Siamese twins connected by their beard on roller skates! a ladder that just goes way up to nowhere! the dictator's wardrobe scene with dancing valets!), it has the best evil minion song I've ever heard. And I mean barbershop singing about having poison ivy, unlike the more respectable schools.

She mentions that there were commercials, but when I saw it, it didn't. Maybe crackle.com is using intermittent reinforcement.

It is a totally awesome movie — we watched it over and over when I was a kid. This may be part of what's wrong with me and my sisters.

I'm starting now. It had a short commercial at the beginning. Thanks for the tip.

I watched the beginning, up to the point where Dr. T. sent out searchers for the boy. I found it too creepy, and the reviews gave the impression this doesn't change, so I didn't continue watching.

There are a lot of changes of tone and silly stuff, and there's a happy ending. However, there's also a lot of scary stuff-- both physical fear and mind control. I have no idea how the balance would work out for you.

Delightful to see it's out there, despicable though the movie whose trailer precedes it may be.

Great movie, got a good copy of it. Maybe I'll put it on tonight (along with V for Vendetta).

Seems to be unavailable. Taken down, I wonder, or IP-address restricted?

It's up now, so there might have been a random problem.

I just realized how nice it is to have a kids movie where the message isn't "have faith". That kid doesn't have faith in anything. He acts on what he sees.

I suspect it's a rights/IP address issue: still blocked for me....
