a psychologist who took part in the documentary said the participants were made to sign a contract obliging them to obey the presenter's instructions.

I love how this is unironically and parenthetically noted. I confess that my first thought was "the problem with bait and switch stuff like this is getting consent from your test subjects," and then my second thought was "this test pretty much calls the whole concept of consent into question, though..."
