I can post a pointer to the SMOFs list and you could ask around for people to post on other lists like fanac, etc. And there are NASFiC staff members not listed on the membership page so maybe one of their lists? Surely you know people on those lists willing to do you a favor.
'no' is sadly not useful, but I think it's my answer; last I had heard, 3 weeks ago, ReConStruction had 480 preregistered members. They projected 1600. Everyone who has any interest in going to North Carolina in August has probably bought one; you're not the only person I've heard of sort of saying, 'anyone?'
That said, I note it doesn't look like you posted it in nasfic2010. And there does seem to be slow trade happening over there, now that the pre-reg is over.
actually, according to the reported numbers, there aren't states for 2007, the two before that was a Dragoncon (so 14,000 something), and then on average they got about 3000 when held. (Why do I retain this info? Dear lord, Stephanie). Anyway, they weren't totally unreasonable to think they could get 1600, except lots of NASFiC assumptions are based on the costs of international travel in the 70s.
Right now, with a month left, travelocity could get me round trip to AussieCon for $821. for someone earning $35k a year (not what you or I earn, but certainly about right for an average college grad), that's not even a week and a half's work.
I also think...well. People really hate North Carolina. I mean, my loathing is special but people totally do not want to go to what is, in the end, a pretty podunk little town. Add to that that it has virtually no fannish community to self sustain (and before anyone questions me, I lived there for 4 years, I *know* about the lack of fandom) - there are certainly *fen* but there is no fannish infrastructure, which means everything has to be done fresh...
I said at the time Raleigh was a really stupid idea. Everyone dismissed me because I hate hate HATE the place. But I really was basing it on valid reasons.

When Orlando got the WorldCon in 1992 there wasn't much fannish infrastructure there. That was one of the arguments against their bid. IIRC the organizational resources built to run the con jump-started South Florida fandom. They also had the advantage of the 'permanent floating WorldCon staff'(PFWCS) to help them get the con going and transfer knowledge. Raleigh isn't going to have that, since most PFWCS are probably working AussieCon. I can't vouch for the state of south Florida fandom now.
If all else fails, do you have a friend who's attending NASFIC? There will likely be people buying at-the-door memberships who'd be happy to save some money.
Of course that takes a willingness on the part of said friend to accost a likely person in the at-the-door line.
