LJ Annoyances

nancylebovI just wasted some time trying to make sure that my lj-cut below was working properly before I posted it. It seems that lj-cuts don't show up in the preview.
Another annoyance: there's no good way to keep track of whether people have made new comments, ist there?
Or have I missed some really obvious stuff which would make these annoyances go away?
